Things To Do In Lockdown

As the reality of the lockdown and self-isolation begins to sink in, the need to keep our brains stimulated becomes ever more important. Apart from the clear danger of catching Covid-19, the underlying danger is for our mental states. It’s important to keep the mind active. So here is a quick blog full of things to do in lockdown.

Things To Do In Lockdown.

I suppose the first thing to do in Lockdown is to remain calm. Worrying too much will cause undue stress which has a negative effect on your immune system. Remain calm and if you can even go as far as being effortlessly cool as demonstrated in the photo below then all the better.

It helps if you can position yourself beneath an aircon unit but for those without the blow of cooling air can use a fan or stand next to an open window. If you don’t have a fan or a window ask your partner to flap a large book or serving tray in your direction.

Reading is a great thing to do during lockdown so try reading a book. I’ve read a book loads of times and it really takes me away from the stress of isolation. If you don’t have a book to read you can use the one in the photo below.

Keep Active

Exercise will be one of the main things to do during lockdown. To keep our mind in shape it helps to keep your body in tip top condition. Make sure you raise your heartrate regularly as I am doing in the photo below.

But remember to stretch it out after!!

Produce Art In Lockdown

Art is a great way to let your mind escape it’s current predicament. I love drawing as an escape. Some of you may be thinking that you’re not very skilled in the art of art but what does it matter how good you are – this is just about enjoyment! It can also be difficult to know what to draw. I lke to draw clouds and you can see some examples of them below.

Catch Up With Friends

Now is the perfect time to catch up with friends. Our isolation will make it more important than ever to have regular contact with our friends. Here’s an example of me talking to one of my best friends, ‘Chewbacca’.

We’re having a chat about the heavy metal band AC/DC but you can talk about something different if you want. Just make sure it’s on a topic one of you has some understanding off. Talking to Chewbacca about AC/DC was pretty dull and to be honest, a one way conversation but it helped to pass roughly 4 minutes.

Discover New Things

In some ways this period is a golden opportunity to discover new things and have new experiences. One great thing to do is to stand in rooms you wouldn’t normally stand. It works really well if you stand in a position you wouldn’t normally. Here’s me in the bathroom.

I really saw things from a different perspective.

Then I stood in the kitchen for a while.

Learn To Cook

It is vital to eat well and to keep our immune system functioning well. With all this spare time it is the perfect opportunity to get creative in the kitchen. Here’s me rustling up some lovely salted peanuts.

Mmmmmmmmmmm, delicious!

Use Your Time To Discover New Things

I can’t stress enough the importance of learning while under lockdown. One of the best things to do in lockdown is to focus your mind on new and unusual experiences. Here I am developing a new skill of turning on the tap.

Television

One thing you can do to pass the time is to watch TV. It’s a great way to let your mind wander and it is often overlooked by most of us as a means of entertainment. So grab that remote and relax with one of your favourite box-sets as I am doing here.

You can watch lots of TV shows on a website called Netflix.

Other Things To Do In Lockdown

Another great way to pass the time is to read more of this blog. Here are some of my favourite posts

  1. These are excellent tips. I’m going to try some of them today. I have a stuffed dog in the guest bedroom. We will discuss Metallica. That should take roughly 3 seconds.

I knew you were multi-talented, but I had no idea you were such an artiste! You continue to impress me, liveandletthai.

I can’t believe you mastered the faucet/tap! We have one of those fancy-schmancy touch models. There’s a handle, but that only controls the temperature. To turn the faucet on/off you just touch the metal. When house guests try to use the handle to turn it on and no water comes out, we have a good laugh. It provides hours of entertainment.

Were those McVitie’s Digestives I saw in your cupboard? Ace! Bloody brilliant with a good cuppa, eh?

    1. Ha! Yes! They’re my little taste of home along with a cup of Yorkshire Tea! Enjoy your Metallica conversation 😄

      1. It’s finished already. Riveting.

      2. Why don’t I believe this? 😄

  2. Rivergirl says:

Oh, my…. And to think I was missing you during your extended absence. I’m not sure what was more disturbing here… your bedroom aerobic session or the fact one of your clouds looks like an ass. And you can’t fool me. That wasn’t a new bathroom position either.

    1. Haha!! Those clouds are ART! And no I often stand like that in the toilet. Give it a go!

      1. Rivergirl says:

Ass art. The most under appreciated form..

      2. Why, thank you ☺️

    2. Interesting how different people interpret art, especially hoity-toity high end art like this. You see, the husband thought the cloud that may be an ass was actually a pair of a lady’s, uh, front “chestal” protrusions… Could l’artiste please weigh in?

      1. Rivergirl says:

I can see that… although I thought it was a self portrait and gave him the benefit of the doubt.
